Up one levelDarent's Housing Policy Conference 2011
Darent Housing Cooperative’s committee joined forces to tackle outstanding work needed to be done towards signing off the Codes of Conduct and The Accreditation. Although several local meetings had been dedicated to this end, there was still a lot of work to do, so a conference room was booked at The Hilton in Maidstone, where everyone on the 14 strong committee gave up a weekend and focused on completing a lot of the work.

Sign up to support the Co-operative Housing Tenure Bill
The Co-operative Housing Tenure Bill is being introduced by Jonathan Reynolds MP (Labour/Co-op Hyde and Stalybridge) on 11th October. The Bill calls for legislation for co-operative tenure to be recognised as a distinct estate in English property law and will make it easier for housing co-ops to start and to organise themselves. Please support the Bill by signing the petition.
Annual report to residents 2011
Welcome to our annual report to tenants for the year to 31 March 2011. This report is for you, the tenants and leaseholders of CDS Co-operatives and our client co-operatives. It summarises our performance over the past financial year to 31 March 2011, but it is not only our assessment. Tenants who serve on our Resident Quality Services Committee have scrutinised our services and reviewed this report in detail.
Save community land for future generations
The National CLT Network, the national body for Community Land Trusts, and CDS Co-operatives, the largest co-operative housing service agency in England, have jointly launched a campaign to give Community Land Trusts (CLTs) the right to prevent community land being lost and transferred to the open market.
Co-operatives Fortnight 2011 - sign the petition
This year Co-operatives Fortnight, the co-operative sector’s annual national campaign, will take place from the 25 June to 9 July 2011. The theme is ‘Yours to Share which calls for co-operative action to narrow the gap between rich and the poor in the UK. The Fortnight is supported by co-operatives across the UK, including CDS Co-operatives, and was kicked off with the launch of the ‘Yours to Share’ petition outside the Bank of England on 4 April.
Community Land Trusts Annual Conference 2011: The Big Opportunity. 10 May 2011, Savoy Place, London
The Localism Bill and the proposals for the Community Right to Build, Buy, Challenge and reclaim land all offer major potential for the community-led housing sector to grow and flourish. This year's CLT one-day Annual Conference focused on the opportunities for CLTs in the new political and funding environment.
International Co-operative Alliance Housing - London Symposium 7-8 October 2010
Ninety delegates, including participants from fifteen countries and four continents, attended the ICA Housing Symposium on 7th and 8th October at the IET conference centre in Savoy Place, London WC2.

Keeping control of our lives - Mutual retirement housing for older people
As we get older our homes are often no longer suitable i.e. too many stairs, expensive to heat etc. Loneliness and isolation can also be big problems. Dealing with repairs and maintenance can become a heavy burden. Mutual Retirement Housing would remove these worries and provide residents with a better quality of life.
Commission on Co-operative and Mutual Housing - call for evidence
Launched in 2008, the Commission on Co-operative & Mutual Housing will independently research the cooperative and mutual housing sector, exploring its potential benefits, shortcomings and models, drawing conclusions about any current relevance and applicability of the sector, and promoting and publicising workable and desirable models that fit the needs of current and future housing, community and third sector strategies’.
