Barnwood Housing Co-operative 

Barnwood Housing Co-op is situated in the Park Barn area on the outskirts of Guildford, Surrey. It is an independent fully mutual co-operative with 45 rented homes where flats are designed to be suitable for elderly residents. The estate was built by CDS in 1985 and the first tenancies started in August of that year.  After a two-year training period for residents the co-operative became independent and has managed its own affairs ever since.

Elles Housing Co-operative 

Elles Housing Co-op is made up of three blocks in Farnborough, Hampshire. The estate was developed in the early 1980s by CDS. Residents began to be involved in the management of the estate, and in 1993 began to function as an independent fully mutual co-operative. CDS has provided management services to the co-operative since 1993.

Weybank Housing Co-operative 

Weybank Housing Co-op is situated in central Farnham and has 48 mixed tenure homes. The estate was developed in the mid 1980’s by CDS. Residents took ownership in 1993 when the co-op began to function independently with CDS providing key management services through a formal agreement.

Orts Road Housing Co-operative 

Orts Road Housing Co-op is located near Reading town centre. The co-op is home to a diverse community in 92 units over three blocks – Biko Court, Mandela Court, and Morris Court with a mixture of bedsits, self-contained flats and rooms in shared homes. The co-op has a local office which is open two days a week and a large common room for hire to co-op members’ social events. The co-op was developed in 1984. CDS began providing management services in 2010.

Hamwic Housing Co-operative

Hamwic provides affordable rooms in shared and self-contained property to single adults with no live-in dependents, who are in housing need, in the Southampton area. CDS began providing services for their 56 homes in 2025.

Old Farm Park Housing Co-operative

Old Farm Park Housing Co-op has 42 homes in a combination of flats and terraced houses built in 1992 by CDS in Milton Keynes. The co-op became independent in 1995, with CDS still providing some service to the co-op. Old Farm Park Housing Co-op maintains its own waiting list alongside 50% of residents nominated by Milton Keynes Council.

Swan Lane Housing Co-operative 

Swan Lane Housing Co-op is located on the banks of the River Thames and was completed in 1987 as part of a larger development in the area. The co-operative has 44 properties consisting of flats and houses laid out around a central court. Swan Lane has an active committee who meet regularly and carry out many of the duties of the co-op and also organise an annual fun day, street parties and days out.

St George’s Church Housing Co-operative 

St George’s Church Housing Co-op contains 30 flats situated at the edge of Burgess Park in Camberwell, south London. St George’s Church was built in 1824 by Francis Octavius Bedford as one of the “million pound” churches celebrating victory over Napoleon. It later fell into disuse, and after being deconsecrated in 1976, a major fire destroyed its interior in the early 1980s, leaving only the outer walls and tower. CDS redeveloped the building between 1992 and 1994, with residents moving in from June 1994. The co-op is an independent fully mutual co-operative and is managed by a committee of members.

New Cut Housing Co-operative

New Cut Housing Co-op contains 41 rental properties with a mix of flats, shared cluster flats, and houses. The co-op is situated close to the South Bank in Lambeth, South London. New Cut was built in 1991 and became independent soon after. The estate has wheelchair accommodation, a guest room and a community hall. There are also shared laundry facilities and communal gardens.

Sanford Housing Co-operative 

Sanford Housing Co-op is the first purpose-built housing co-op in the UK. The co-op owns and manages Sanford Walk in South East London and consists of diverse and thriving community of 121 homes. Sanford implemented measures to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 60% and won Inside Housing’s prestigious national award for the most sustainable affordable housing refurbishment in 2008. The co-op continues to encourage participation in social and operational activities.

Miller Walk Housing Co-operative 

Miller Walk Housing Co-op has 13 properties in Waterloo.  It was built in 1989 as part of the Coin Street / South Bank development and came to CDS Co-operatives for management services in 1995. The co-op is run by general meeting meaning residents are involved in most aspects of their management.

Brighton Buildings Housing Co-operative

Brighton Buildings is situated between Tower Bridge and Elephant and Castle in Southwark, London. 30 of the rental properties are in a 19th century building above a row of shops and there are a further 9 units to the rear overlooking an open park. It is a fully mutual independent co-operative and CDS Co-operatives began providing management services to Brighton Buildings in 1995.

Bonham & Strathleven Tenants Co-op

Bonham and Strathleven lies in the heart of Brixton between Bonham Road and Strathleven Road.  There are 38 rented properties with a mix of houses, flats, shared units and bedsits.  Most of the properties are pre 1930s and the newest were built in 1993. Formed in the early 1980s, it is an independent fully mutual co-operative. CDS began providing services for the co-op in the late 1980s.

Wilfrid East Housing Co-operative

Wilfrid East London Housing Co-operative is located in Bromley-by-Bow. The properties were originally owned by Tower Hamlets Council, transferring to Poplar HARCA, before then being transferred to the co-op in 1999. The co-op has 94 flats in four storey blocks, of which 27 are leasehold. There is also a meeting room and office at the co-op, which is staffed by a full-time employee who works with the management committee. CDS has been providing management services to the co-op since 2003.

Hourglass Housing Co-operative

Hourglass Housing Co-op is a small independent co-op with three converted properties in the Oval and Vauxhall area of south London. The Georgian houses are converted into 15 rental flats, one being a maisonette. The co-op is run by general meeting and has been operating since the 1980s.

Green Dragon Lane Housing Co-operative 

Green Dragon Lane Housing Co-op consists of 75 homes situated by Kew Bridge in Brentford. Built or converted between 1983 and 1993, the properties are a mixture of flats and houses. It is an independent fully mutual co-op and CDS have been providing services for Green Dragon Lane since 2009. Green Dragon Lane Housing Co-operative celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025.

Covent Garden Housing Co-operative

Covent Garden Housing Co-op began in 1988 when St Pancras Housing Association bought 87 homes. After receiving funding for a feasibility study, residents trained and negotiated to become a Tenant Management Co-operative (TMC), officially achieving this in 1995 – the first voluntary TMC in over 20 years. In 2014 the co-op decided to buy-in services from CDS Co-operatives, for their 55 units.

Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS)

RUSS is a Community Land Trust (CLT) based in Lewisham, who recently completed their ambitious development of 36 sustainable affordable homes in Ladywell South London, offering self-build volunteering opportunities to local people, and building a strong community with shared spaces, gardens, guest room and laundry. CDS is the Registered Provider landlord of 8 rented flats on the site, while the other homes are owned at a discount to market values in perpetuity. 

Services we provide: estate services and communal repairs, service charge collection, as well as separately managing the rented homes.

Shearwood Housing Co-operative 

Shearwood Housing Co-op is a large, shared ownership scheme consisting of 111 properties including flats and houses, located in Thames Road, Crayford. It was built in 1983, and became independent in 1990, with CDS providing some management services.

Hazel Housing Co-operative 

Hazel Housing Co-op is situated in Slade Green, Kent and contains a mixture of 76 rental flats and houses. The co-op was built by CDS in 1994 and became independent in 1998, with CDS continuing to provide some management services to the co-op.

Franklyn Housing Co-operative 

Franklyn is a medium sized estate of 59 properties in the London Road area of Canterbury.  The properties are a mixture of houses, flats and bungalows. The co-op was built by CDS in phases between 1991 and 1993 and ownership of the estate was transferred the co-op in 1993. The co-op continues to source a number of services from CDS.

Warwick Housing Co-operative 

Warwick Housing Co-op is an estate of 40 properties on the edge of Canterbury in the St Martin’s Hill area, consisting of flats and houses. The estate was built by CDS in 1993, and ownership was transferred in 1994. The co-op became fully independent and signed a management agreement with CDS in 1995. There is an active management committee who are involved in all aspects of running the co-op. The scheme features a community centre with an office and a hall that can be used for meetings, social events, and is available for hire.

Shorncliffe Housing Co-operative 

Shorncliffe Housing Co-operative was built in 1994. It is a small co-op of 19 properties including bungalows, flats, houses in a cul-de-sac off North Road in Folkestone. The co-op has a management committee who meet quarterly.

Moat Farm Housing Co-op is located close to Folkestone Town Centre. The estate contains 27 rental properties with a mix of flats, houses and accessible bungalows. The co-op has a small community hall available for co-op meetings and hire by tenants and local community groups. The co-op was built by CDS in 1989 and became independent in 1997, with CDS continuing to provide some management services to the co-op.

Pine Tree Housing Co-operative is a small estate of 25 rental homes in the Forty Acres area of Canterbury. The co-op contains houses and a wheelchair adapted family bungalow, built by CDS in 1995. Ownership was transferred to the co-op in 1996. In 1998 the co-op signed a management agreement with CDS to provide a number of services.

Ashford Pavilion is located close to Ashford town centre. It forms part of a larger development alongside other housing association and privately owned properties. The 40-home scheme was built in 1996, and ownership was transferred to the Co-operative in 1999.
