We are delighted to welcome all the residents from Cheriton Housing Cooperative in Folkstone, Kent to CDS. From Friday 1st March, 2019 we officially became the landlord at Cheriton.
Cheriton is on a quiet cul-de-sac close to the area of Cheriton in Folkestone. There are 21 properties made up of two and three bedroom houses. One of the 3 bed houses has been wheelchair adapted. The close was built in 1995 in conjunction with Shepway Council, The Housing Corporation and private finance. After training, Cheriton became an independent fully mutual co-operative in 1998.
Sadly, we recently said goodbye to the co-op as they decided not to continue as a fully independent housing co-op and they are now no longer one of our clients but have decided to remain with us as we take over as the landlord. Our Housing Services team look forward to working with them going forward!
Rachel Frost, Client Relationship officer at CDS, has worked alongside Cheriton over the years. Rachel said:
The committee of management at Cheriton Co-op worked hard over the years to represent the full membership and to provide well maintained housing an a community run along co-operative principles. It was with reluctance that they made the decision to transfer their properties to a new landlord, but we are pleased that having worked with CDS as a managing agent since their formation, they decided to choose us as their new landlord. We are excited to begin this new chapter with them and look forward to working with them to continue to make Cheriton a wonderful place to live.
Housing Officer, Nkechi Eneh, has taken over from Rachel and going forwards will be the main point of contact at CDS for all Cheriton residents. Nkechi said:
During my five years with CDS I have managed a variety of properties and now have a wealth of housing management experience. Having met the residents of Cheriton over the past, I am looking forward to working with them closely. I am committed to providing you all with responsive Housing Management services and am looking forward to the future with Cheriton.
