Westree Road Housing Co-operative is situated off Tonbridge Road close to Maidstone town centre. The estate contains 34 properties including a mixture of one and two bedroom flats, as well as two and three bedroom houses. Two of the houses on site are fully adapted for wheelchair users.
The estate was built in 1998 and is a fully mutual independent co-op. The properties have fitted kitchens and bathrooms, double glazed windows and have gas central heating throughout. There is ample car parking facilities for all residents and visitors and the Co-op have a communal space at the bottom of the estate where children can safely play. There is a service charge covering the grounds maintenance which is carried out monthly.
The Co-op is a five minute walk to the town centre shopping facilities and the River Medway is also a five minute walk away. The Co-op won a prize in CDS Co-operatives’s 2005 Innovation Awards in the Community Development category for improving community involvement by running children’s activities and other neighbourhood projects.
