Minster Housing Co-operative is located on Kent Avenue, Minster, Isle of Sheppey. It was built in 1996 and has 36 properties containing mainly two and three bed houses, 13 three bed houses and a couple of four bed houses. One of these is a disabled unit. All properties are semi detached, have fitted kitchens and bathrooms, central heating, off street parking and private front and rear gardens.
The Co-op is close to local shops and a health centre in the Broadway. There are also extensive shopping facilities in Minster and the bustling town of Sheerness of Sea is close by.
Minster is an independent fully mutually co-op and has a very active committee. Minster Housing Co-op issues contractual tenancies.
Minster Housing Co-op featured on the BBC Inside Out series in the South East which looked at the positive aspects of co-operative living.
Applications for housing
After internal transfers, 50% of vacancies are given to Swale Borough Council for nominations from their housing register with the other 50% taken from the Co-operative’s waiting list.
