In a mutual exchange, two tenants swap their homes and assign their respective tenancy agreements to each other (in some cases a new tenancy may be created).

As there is a shortage of rented homes, CDS will require you to have a genuine need to move and every co-operative will need to make sure that your needs match the property available. You will only be able to exchange your property if there are no serious breaches of tenancy or court orders against you, your property is in good condition and there are no rent arrears on your account.
