your rent

Information for tenants living in properties owned by CDS Co-operatives

As a tenant, it is your main responsibility, to make sure that your rent is paid on time

The amount of rent you pay depends on a number of factors, such as the size of your property, the number of bedrooms you have, the facilities available and where the property is. In line with guidance from the Tenant Services Authority, the rent we set is at a level which allows us to provide a good-quality service but, at the same time, is within reach of people who have low incomes.

We review rent every year and will always write to you giving you at least four weeks’, notice of any increases in your rent. We will set your rent in line with the rent restructuring regulations published by the Government. These regulations provide guidance on how registered social landlords go about increasing rent. If you need more information about your rent, please contact your co-operative support officer.

We need to collect rent on time if we are to provide a good-quality housing management service to our tenants. We need to collect as much rent as we possibly can, which means that we are strict when dealing with people who do not pay their rent.

If you get into rent arrears, we will take action to force you to pay it.
