FIRE

If the fire is in your home you must get out, dial 999 and ask for the fire brigade, and stay out.

Do not stop to collect belongings or pets.

Once you have left the building, do not return until the fire brigade tells you it is safe to do so.

If you cannot get out , find a room with a window that opens, where all your family can gather, ideally with a phone. Stay on the floor and prevent smoke entering the room by placing a towel or dressing gown across the bottom of the door. Wait for the fire brigade then follow their instructions.

If the fire is in the property next to yours or in a shared area, it is far safer to phone the fire brigade and stay in your flat. Wait for instructions from the fire brigade, unless heat or smoke is affecting you.

Do not use the lift.
