Information for tenants living in properties owned by CDS Co-operatives
Types of tenancy
You have a right to live in your home without interference from us or from other people. Your tenancy agreement and the law protect you from interference. We will not enter your home without your permission or without contacting you first (except if there is an emergency where there is danger to the health and safety of people in or near your property or we need to enter to protect your home or a neighbouring property from serious damage).
You will have signed a tenancy agreement when you moved into your property.Your tenancy agreement is an assured tenancy or an assured shorthold tenancy. If you moved into your home before 15 January 1989, you may have a secure tenancy. The rights and duties you have as a tenant are fully explained in your tenancy agreement. You should also refer to the ‘Charter for housing association applicants and residents’ which will give you more information. You will have received a copy of the ‘Charter’ at the start of your tenancy. If you need another copy, you can download it by clicking the above link or get one by contacting our Help Desk on 03333 21 30 30.
Your tenancy agreement gives you a wide range of rights and responsibilities. Some of the questions people often ask about their tenancy are listed below:
If you have any further questions about your tenancy agreement please call you co-operative support officer on 03333 21 30 30.
