Moat Farm Housing Co-operative is located in a secluded cul-de-sac at the end of Moat Farm Road, close to Folkestone Town Centre. The estate has 36 properties comprising 8 one bed flats, 4 two bed flats, 22 three bed houses and 2 one bed disabled bungalows. The scheme was built in two phases with one completed in 1990 and the second in 1994.

The homes have double glazing, fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms, gas central heating, and have landscaped common garden areas and front gardens. The houses are two storeys, have individual car parking spaces and a second WC to the ground floor. There is a community hall and a small play area designed for young children.

Main shopping facilities are in Folkestone town centre which is 15 minutes walk away and has a regular bus service. Primary and secondary schools are located nearby.

Moat Farm Housing Co-operative [phase one] has contractual tenancies and, after internal transfers, 50% of vacancies are given to Shepway Council for nominations from their housing register with the other 50% taken from the Co-operative’s waiting list. Moat Farm [phase two] has assured shorthold tenancies and 100% nominations come from Shepway Council.

Moat Farm is an independent fully mutual primary co-operative, their Committee is very active, managing most of the Co-operative’s duties themselves. They have a very productive gardening club which recently completed commemorative and millennium gardens, the opening of which they celebrated with a Plant Sale & Table Faye which included a Drum and Pipe band, candy floss, and refreshments.
