Golden Hill Housing Co-operative is a scheme of 35 properties on the edge of Whitstable, with open fields on two sides. There are 35 properties comprising 6 one bed flats, 17 two bed houses, 11 three bed houses and 1 four bed house. The remaining 25 properties on the estate are owned and managed by Moat Housing.
The Co-operative was built in 1996/97 and ownership of the estate was transferred in 2001. There is currently a steering committee which meets every eight weeks and who are involved in decisions made about the co-operative. Members of the committee carry out lettings at the Co-operative.
All properties have double glazing, central heating, fitted kitchens and bathrooms, security lighting and off street parking.
The estate is a twenty minute walk from Whitstable town centre and a local bus runs from close by. There are plenty of local shops in the town as well as a leisure centre, bowling alley, seafront and beach. Large superstores are on the Thanet Way which is a accessible by car. Whitstable has a station and buses that run to Canterbury. It is easily accessible from the motorway with links to London and Thanet.
Golden Hill Housing Co-operative has contractual tenancies and, after internal transfers, 100% of vacancies are given to Canterbury Council for nominations from their housing register.
